well, i did this for 2 reasons.
1. i just got a wacom finally and needed to test it
2. there seem to be a few ppl out there who hate on me because of my 'style'. apparently cause i currently don't use many tones and don't go into huge amounts of detail this means that i don't know how to and i have never made 'real' art. ppl seem to find it hard that someone might have spent years doing all kinds of methods and approaches and the same someone might have realised that there is more to art than just the amount of lines on a piece and how small your brush is.
there's a 3rd reason too, which is i really like this girls hair, but thats not nearly as dramatic or 'tortured artist-esque' as the second so stick with that one. it has more rage
1 hour photoshop CS a5 wacom, and reference
no bg cause well..i didn;t feel like it
and im out...
they hate you? how weird...! i really like this one, nice and realistic...im more envious of your style than hating it. really good piece for a tester with your tablet as well! keep it up
I think that's what makes your work so dope though, it's loose and free, you know? I really dig this piece too, she looks like my friend Heather with wild locks.
thanks mate. ive always thought the best thing about my work was my scruffyness. you gotta be loose otherwise you'll never make mistakes and you won't have anything to learn from.
Haha, love your reasons! I agree with you 100% on number two and have to say I did the same thing recently, just threw out all the preconceptions and decided to do just do something for myself just cause I wanted to do it that certain way. I am glad I did, I have never felt more artistic and happy about my work. I hope it last I think that is why I like your drawings is because of the free nature feel they have. Seeing pretty super realism and eye-candy anime is nice but sometimes it just makes me sick. I have to admit I like the kind of work you do much better than the eye-candy things and it is what I would personally choose to hang on my wall. It just has more character.
And congrats on the wacom, I don't know what I ever do without mine. Hell, I find myself sometimes surfing around on the web with the pen because I forgot I had it in my lap
Love the drawing too! Her eyes are killer and the hair is great. I like how you make the whole image come together in the V at the bottom, very nice closure to the whole piece.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.

Sorry for the ramble, you struck a chord
In other words, this is ace. I love the detail and her hair is indeed very cool. You work however you like, man, you're great.
