Please bare that in mind when you comment. It spent maybe a year on my website after I finished it, then I decided it was never going on line again. I figured that I shouldn't really show it anybody else; the fact that I'd made it for myself should be enough. But now I dunno, I found it in my vault and a fan of mine wanted to read it, and she really responded to it so I figured maybe for all it's faults it's worth something to other people now too. Also, I didn't want to hide from my own work.
It's funny...I love comics. I always say that I draw them and most people who havn't known me that long go 'ummm, when did YOU draw any comics??'. Truth is I'm pretty much always writing them, and sketching them on the private it's just I find telling a story takes a lot out of me and I find it really tough. I'm not trying to come all 'tortured artist' on this, but when I work with narrative I want to put everything I have into it and I can't really do that unless it's with a story I really care about. I genuinely find it difficult. So I guess that's why you don't see me doing X-Force fancomics or 'mature' versions of Power Puff Girls or whatever... I just can't get behind that enough to get the work done.
Anyway yeah, there is a story behind it and it is autobiographical... but I don't think that's very important. Not to you anyway. Chances are if you know me, you'll know it, if you don't know me, you don't need to know it to get these 3 pages. Hopefully it's self explanatory. Hopefully me putting this up here means I'm over it.
I'm not really looking for critique... I don't think anyone could be harder on this piece of work than I am and I've had a long time to pick it apart... but if you wanna say something, go ahead. I was going to disable comments... but in my opinion that's for pussies and divas and shouldn't even BE a feature on DA. If you believe you have a right to make art then you have a right to face your faults too.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
